Carbohydrates play an important role in our bodies. They are responsible for the transport of energy to the muscles, helping the blood to clot, staying fertile as well as many other aspect of our body which we tend to pay no attention to. Some of these carbohydrates are necessary for survival while others are not really necessary at all any more. It is the bad carbohydrates which are responsible for the storage of fat so that the body can use it later as energy. They are in all simplicity, sugars. You have the basic forms such as glucose or sucrose, as well as many others; but you also have the complex carbohydrates which are multiple basic forms interconnected with one another on a molecular level.
Complex carbohydrates are a requirement for the body’s survival. They are main components in the development of the red and white blood cells. In most cases, they are found linked together with amino acids found in protein and are imperative to the survival of the body. The simple sugars or basic carbohydrates are not all required. Some of them can be down right dangerous to the body and are known for their role in storing fat reserves in the body.
When you hear the term “low carb diet” this concept of low carbohydrate intake refers to the basic sugars; these basic carbohydrates are not completely necessary. However, a low carb diet should never be low in complex carbohydrates as these are the good carbs your body needs to fight of diseases and sickness, stay fertile, clot blood and deliver energy to the muscles.
It is important to point out though, that no diet can be performed on its own and expected to be successful at helping you to achieve your fitness related goals. You also have to exercise. Alone, diets and exercise can only do so much for you, but it is when they are combined that the limits to what you can achieve are boundless.
